In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Delaying Burials for Death Investigation
By Irshad Mahmood – Director, Siraat-al-Mustaqeem Dawah Centre

Death is imminent and those who have been born had to die one day. A person may die due to natural causes, accidents or murdered by someone. When someone comes in this world, people welcome him/her with greetings and pray for his/her good health and emaan. If Allah wills, then he/she slowly grows up and reaches certain age and performs his/her duty and then no one knows when his/her time comes to go back. Yes, it is necessary to try our best to save one’s life. Even though, either at early age or at later age one eventually has to go, even we try all our best to keep him/her with us by applying all the advanced technology. Tears are left behind for the family & friends. It is hard to bear the sadness but there is no choice. We all are having our test in this world, someone with sickness, others with good health or having tears since their love one passed away. It is hard to find words to explain well.

Detail investigations are only necessary if someone has been murdered. In all other situation it is advised to bury the deceased person as quickly as possible in local places where the person passed away, preferably within 12 hours if possible. It has been noticed that many hospitals are delaying processes of investigations in many countries which is unnecessary increasing the cost of hospital expenses and is huge burden on government as well. If any of hospitals staffs like to earn more and more money with these investigations then it is crime against humanity.

No need to wait for peoples living far away to join the Janazah Salaat unless they can come in few hours to join it.

Also sending body abroad may create many issues like autopsy or postmortem, taken out stomach and put chemicals to preserve it etc. for reducing the risk of spreading germs, unless there is need to take out organs/tissues to save other’s lives.

There is NOT a single clear verse about organs/tissues donations etc. in the Quraan, however in the Quraan it clearly says that “Saving a Life is Like Save the Whole World”, (Ref: Al_Quraan_005:032). In a broader sense we must take this verse to save humanity including organs/tissues donations.

There are many patients around the world who are still on waiting lists for several years. Just go and visit those families in which there is any patient and their lives are miserable, especially for those young mothers who are waiting for their organs/tissues transplants and who have little kids behind. Their children are severely mentally disturbed.

Thanks to Allah, nowadays various Ulemas around the world are accepting it and saying that it is permissible, BUT make sure that it is as freewill not for earning money by the donors.

Modern sciences are now capable to save organs/tissues of deceased persons immediately after their death, so it can spare living persons from donating their organs/tissues and help save many hardship on humanities.

Since saving a life is like save whole world, we Muslims must allow our bodies organs/tissues (e.g. liver, small bowel, kidney, pancreas, heart, lung, corneas, skin, bone, cardiovascular tissue the islet cells of the pancreas and connective tissue etc.) to be donated after our natural/accidental death for the good cause to help/save humanity, without any discrimination and for FREE. It will be Great Sadaqah Jariah, INSHAA ALLAH.

I strongly urge all countries around the globe to pass a law that will allow our bodies organs/tissues (e.g. liver, small bowel, kidney, pancreas, heart, lung, corneas, skin, bone, cardiovascular tissue the islet cells of the pancreas and connective tissue etc.) to be donated after our natural/accidental deaths for the good cause to help/save humanity, without any discrimination and for FREE. It will help reduce shortage of organs/tissues, and hence human sufferings around the world. Those who do not want to donate their organs/tissues must have to declare it, while rests will be automatic donors.

We Muslims Fully Trust on Our Families (our Spouses, Children and Grand Children) who will be fully in charge of our inheritances as per Quraanic Laws and allow them for all decisions about us, when we are very old (above 75 years) or not able to make our own decisions due to any sicknesses etc. We sacrifice many things for our families, support our Children and Grand Children and don’t want to give them hard time when we get old or after our death as well. We don’t want unnecessary Delaying our Burials for Death Investigations etc. and increasing the costs. It is My Last and Final WILL as well as my suggestions for all to minimize funeral costs to its’ lowest including using our own old clean/washed cloths and give new cloths or equivalent money to Global Charity.
